1. Limit your freedom

Exercise self-control should be at your fingertips. The majority of the youths are trapped in poverty simply because of excessive freedom. A government that can not afford to empower you as a youth would rather see you lose your future to drugs. Stay away from some events that don’t build you and strictly focus on personal development.

  1. Delayed gratification

Sometimes, all it takes is limiting enjoyment to fully focus on building yourself. You might not die sooner as you often lie to yourself. Instead, you might live longer in unending misery because you thought life was all about parties in your 20s and 30s. Strike a balance between leisure and working.

  1. Acquire some technical skills.

Yes, you graduated with honors but unfortunately, a bad economy means limited job opportunities and tight competition for the scarce ones. It means survival for the fittest. Hairdressing on top of your business administration degree can still help you progress.

4. Focus on improving your soft skills

When the competition is tight, a person with better soft skills will edge you for a job opportunity other factors remaining constant. The majority of soft skills can be developed with the right attitude, commitment, and regular practice.

5. Establish relevant connections

Soft skills alone might not help you in an economy characterized by sectarianism and nepotism. That’s when connections come in. You have no room for bias on people in better positions than you when you’re still broke even when you should. One way to keep yourself poor is by avoiding and finding fault with those able to transform your life.

6. Take some calculated risks.

Complaining about everything is so easy but ask yourself which risk have you taken so far in the name of personal development? Have you seen people going to the Middle East for hustle? It’s risky but it’s proving to change lives. You absolutely need to take initiative to change your life other than waiting on politicians to deliver because they might not

7. Family unity

Sometimes, all it takes to defeat poverty is a united family. Many youths can’t successfully collect $1000 for a startup or going abroad. When you talk to them about family contributions, they say no one cares. We’re all responsible to ensure good family ties. A united family seeks collective measures towards challenges.

  1. Limit consumption of politics

Drawing a line between personal and national struggles is important. A better government will be more beneficial to you when it finds you on your way up the ladder. Don’t blindly follow politicians to an extent of losing personal focus. Take inspiration from leaders with whom you share interests. They worked hard to get in those positions.

  1. Seek mentorship

Be open to knowledge from more experienced people in different fields of your interest even when you disagree with their political or social interests. The ultimate goal is to build yourself and it requires a stoic mindset other than your emotions. Mentors will take you through common avoidable mistakes as long as you listen.

  1. Determination.

Set your mind to succeed through the rough terrain. Put in a reasonable amount of effort and trust the process. Some folks have made it through the same harsh economy by being hardworking and smart so you should take inspiration from them. Win against poor leadership because it is deliberate for some toxic leaders to create social classes by making some people poor and others rich.

Irrespective of the size of the economy and how good or bad the investment and political climate is, success will never be achieved easily. It will require extra effort.
