Africa is a continent of diversity with numerous ethnic groups, languages, religions, etc. It has the youngest population in the world with almost 60% of the population below the age of 25 according to the Cities Alliance organization. Youths account for 60% of unemployment in Africa according to the World Bank. Across Africa, there are few initiatives to empower the youths to create jobs and live sustainably. The leadership too across the continent has continued to deliberately keep a deaf ear about the issue. The media, especially social media, further keeps the youths diverted from the problem. Our goal as African Column is to broadcast content that creates awareness, insights creativity amongst the youths, and also promotes unity amidst diversity. We also intend to restore pride amongst Africans in our beautiful continent by telling positive narratives through storytelling, media, creative arts, education, sports, philanthropy, etc contrary to what the media is feeding to the rest of the world and Africa. Ours is to empower Africans especially the youths to build their continent.
